Quickcode’s HTS PGA Lookup Tool provides a list of PGA names, codes and the different programs within an agency that may apply to your HS classification.

Which PGA Codes Apply to Your HS Classification?

Successfully determining the HS code is just the first step in your import journey. Once you have the correct HS code in hand, it’s time to navigate a complex landscape of regulations and ensure compliance with Partner Government Agencies (PGA). Customs officials play a vital role in applying duties and regulations to your imports, but they also rely on PGAs to oversee specific product categories. To help bridge the gap, we’re proud to offer our HTS PGA Lookup Tool as one of many critical features available within the Quickcode system. Watch the video below as Herb demonstrates how to access PGA codes in Quickcode.

But what exactly is a PGA?

But what exactly is a PGA? PGAs (Partner Government Agencies) are government agencies that collaborate with CBP to enforce regulations on goods entering the U.S. market. These agencies cover various sectors and have specific responsibilities to ensure public health, safety, environmental protection, and more.

Some examples of prominent PGAs include:

  • Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS)
  • Federal Drug Administration (FDA)
  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
  • Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF)

Products subject to PGA regulations often require permits or additional documentation, with each PGA having its own import guidelines. Importers bear the responsibility of understanding the requirements for importing their products into the United States.

If a PGA refuses an import shipment, CBP will subsequently prohibit the goods from entering U.S. commerce.

Determine Your HS Classification Code

Hi, I’m Herb with Quickcode, and today I’m going to be going over Partner Government Agencies, or PGAs, within the Quickcode software. On this page, I have a finished classification. So as we work our way down we can see here’s my 10-digit code, and a little further down the page, once you’ve finished your classification, there will be a section for the PGAs, the Partner Government Agencies.

See PGA Codes That May Apply

Each agency will show in alphabetical order. So here is the agency name as well as the agency code. Underneath each agency will be the different programs within that agency that you might need to reach out to based on the 10 digit code that you’ve selected. Once you’re finished and you feel comfortable on this page and you’ve completed your classification on your finished classifications page you can see that you can look through your past classifications at each agency that will show.

View Past Classifications & PGA Codes

If you did want to see the specific programs within that agency that were flagged for that 10 digit code, you can always click into an old classification, scroll back down to that PGA section and see the specific programs themselves. So if you do have any additional questions always feel free to reach out. You can reach me at herb Quickcode.ai and I hope that you have a great rest of your day!
